Welcome to the New Hampshire
Restaurant & Hospitality Guide

24-Jun-2000

We have received a few inquires about recipes and while we have responded directly, we have one which we did not know the answer to so we have added a page to the recipe section where we will post these recipe inquires and the answers.

The Vermont Lodging and Restaurant Association has been gracious enough to send us the list of their members and we will be putting the Vermont Restaurant Guide up shortly. If there is any other organization who is willing to share their list with us, we will gladly add to our databases.

1-May-2000

We have added all the members of the New Hampshire Lodging and Restaurant Association to our database and now have over 500 restaurants and hotels. We are looking for visitor input in an effort to obtain the names of establishments throughout the state and have a special page setup for your suggestions at suggest establishments. We will list the names and cities/towns where these establishments are located. If the establishment wishes to have further information displayed, they must subscribe to the NH Restaurant Guide.

In an effort to make the New Hampshire Restaurant & Hospitality Guide the best in the state, we are making improvements in a couple of areas. We are now in the process of redesigning the look of the guide. We are working with a graphics artist and hope to have a preliminary design within the next few months. Within the next few weeks, we will be attempting to list as many restaurants and hotels in the state. The list will contain the names and city of each but will not contain the complete information of each establishment. So start checking back to see how we are doing.

We have completed the design of the Information Management System for this website and is a separate website not available to the public. While it is still in the debugging phase, it is access able to the establishment managers. It is a secure site in that it requires a user name and cryptic password assigned to each establishment thus protecting their data. This feature will allow establishments to correct and modify the data stored in the database. Both the contact information and the listing information is manageable andaccess ablee 24 hours a day from any Internet connected PC. Within this site, managers can change and preview the information

15-Oct-1999

We have completed the initial design of the database and search interface. This will allow users to search for the location of an establishment based on City or County. The query page will also allow the user to search for the type of establishment based on Cusine, Ambiance, Special Features, or Entertainment or any combination of these. The results of the search are displayed as a list of establishments which meet the query from the user. The user can then click on the "More Info" link to see a description of the establishment or a webpage link to go to the establishments webpage or website. This development is what will set the New Hampshire Restaurant Guide apart from Other Restaurant Guides. We will put the query screen on the website even though we do not yet have any restaurants subscribing to the guide. We also will display the total number of establishments which are available in the database. If you would like to try it, please click here but remember, this is a trial version and we're still working on some bugs. Let us know what you think. We have created a questionnaire page and would appreciate very much if you would fill it out. The design of this site can be influenced by your input.

On October 26, we will be displaying the New Hampshire Restaurant Guide at the New Hampshire Lodging and Restaurant Association Trade Show at the Center of New Hampshire in Manchester. This trade show is directed at restaurant owners and managers to allow them to visit with vendors supporting the industry. At the trade show, we will be giving away 5 free 1 year subscriptions to restaurants. This investment in time and money is just part of our commitment to making the New Hampshire Restaurant Guide a success.

This is the start of what we hope will be the Premier Restaurant Guide for New Hampshire. In the coming months, we intend to develop this very useful guide for our state's residents and visitors. But more than the usual restaurant guide, this web site is for any type of food vendor. If your specialty is Pizza, Snack Bar, Ice Cream, BrewPub, Catering, Bed and Breakfast, Country Inn, or Full Restaurant Service, we invite you to join us on the web.

Our goal with this site is to have both the food server and the visitor input content to this site. Not only will we have listings of food servers, but we would like to have professional reviews, recipes by both prepares and visitors along with helpful hints. We also hope to have menus for restaurants and takeout/delivery establishments.

Whats News in Food? - If you send us the information about special events, non-profit events, or new establishments, we'll post it on the News page. - This will be free and the event will either be deleted after one month or after the event has happened.

Newsletters? - We don't know yet but if it's something people want, then maybe a monthly newsletter if we can find a few volunteers.

Reviews? - This seems like a good idea at first but there would need to be controls and ground rules established first. While reviews can be a very constructive tool for the establishment, we realize that defamatory criticism can be very detrimental. We've all had bad experiences at many a good restaurant and there are a few I won't personally go back to, but most of the experiences are due to the help and not the business. There are also legal ramifications which must be understood first. Maybe we'll set up a 0 to 5 voting system on a few areas such as service and quality of food.

Recipes? - Let's see if we can get some viewer and subscriber participation. Please see the Recipes page.

We intend to develop a database of our establishment subscribers so visitors can search on name, location, category of establishment, and category of food. A visitor can (for free) search on pizza and delivery in Concord for a listing of the establishments, which offer such. If the subscriber has a menu on the guide, the visitor can then pull up the menu prior to calling the establishment. If the subscriber has their own web site, the visitor will be able to click on the link to their web site.
